About PA Radon Hub

Who We Are

PA Radon Hub is an independent informational resource built for Pennsylvania homeowners, renters, school administrators, and real estate professionals who need reliable guidance on radon risk, testing, and mitigation — and a straightforward way to connect with qualified local help.

We maintain a directory of DEP-certified radon professionals across the Commonwealth, organized by region and city, so you can quickly find a contractor who is licensed to work in Pennsylvania.

Why We Exist

Pennsylvania has one of the highest radon exposure rates in the United States. Approximately 40% of Pennsylvania homes exceed the EPA's action level of 4.0 pCi/L — the threshold at which the EPA recommends mitigation. The Reading Prong granite formation, Marcellus Shale deposits, and Appalachian geology across much of the state create naturally elevated radon concentrations in soil and rock.

Pennsylvania Senate Bill 760, signed into law in 2024, requires radon testing in public school buildings constructed before 2014 in EPA Zone 1 counties during the 2026–2027 academic year. This legislation has significantly increased public awareness of radon risk — and the demand for credible, localized information.

We built PA Radon Hub to fill the gap between that growing awareness and the certified professionals who can act on it.

What We Are Not

  • We do not perform radon testing. We do not deploy test kits, conduct short-term or long-term measurements, or issue test reports.
  • We do not perform radon mitigation. We do not install sub-slab depressurization systems, crawlspace barriers, or any mitigation equipment.
  • We are not affiliated with PA DEP or any government agency. We are an independent private resource. All contractors listed on this site hold independent PA DEP certifications — not ours.
  • We are not a licensed contractor. Nothing on this site constitutes professional radon testing or mitigation advice. Always verify contractor certifications directly with the PA DEP Bureau of Radiation Protection before hiring.
